Dr. Ivo Pitanguy

ivoSurgeon, has its vocation for medicine inherited by his father, the Surgeon General Antonio de Campos Pitanguy and the fascination for the arts, was inherited from the mother, Maria Stael Garden Field Pitanguy, a sensitive and cultured woman.

He attended the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and the plastic surgery service Dr. John Marquis Converse in New York.

Improved and matured his training with the great masters of the World Plastic Surgery, Professor C. Dufourmentel, R. Mouly, Paul Tessier, Sir Harold Gillies and Sir Archibald McIndoe.

Pitanguy was graced by Pope John Paul II with the Culture Prize for Peace. UNESCO, through the International Institute for Promotion and Prestige also awarded him the International Prize for Disclosure of Medical Research, in addition to many titles and honors.

Member of respected academic and cultural entities, Ivo Pitanguy is the author of about 800 scientific papers in Brazilian and international journals and has published a number of books. The work Plastic Surgery of the Head and Body was awarded the Frankfurt Book Fair and has become an important didactic and scientific source.

Pitanguy is patron of the Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery, honorary member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (AISAPS) and numerous other scientific and cultural organizations.

Today, in addition to surgery that performs, Ivo Pitanguy presents lectures and teaches classes at the invitation of universities and medical institutions in Brazil and other parts of the world.

Her book, Living Vale a Pena, summarizes his philosophy of life and fills me with pride to have matured as Visiting Fellow in his private clinic in 1999, after completing a residency in Plastic Surgery with Professor José Marcos Mélega and power rely on his greatness and power to continue teaching and guiding plastic surgeons in all conferences and courses in which he honors us.

Professor Pitanguy has a personality marked by the pleasure of living with his fellows and a permanent curiosity. It teaches us that we must always be looking to learn and cultivate the desire to always learn more.
