Dr. José Marcos Mélega

jose-melegaA graduate of the School of Medicine, held its Residency in General Surgery at the Hospital Santa Cruz with his father, Prof. Henrique Mélega.

 

Did Residency in Plastic Surgery at the Hospital of Prof. face of Defects Paulo de Castro and Correa was Visiting Fellow teacher John Marquis Converse (USA) and Ivo Pitanguy (RJ).

 

Since 1970 Dr. José Marcos Mélega restructured the Plastic Surgery Service of the Hospital Santa Cruz and had the vision to organize multidisciplinary team, making the service a reference in the Brazilian Plastic Surgery.

 

Participated in heated (but respectful) scientific meetings attended by Oswaldo de Castro, Jorge Psillakis, Edgard Costa, Silvio Zanini, Melchiades Cardoso de Oliveira in presenting the respective experience of its services discussing new surgical techniques and outcomes of treatments, growing plastic surgery reconstructive craniofacial.

Having interned with Professor José Marcos Mélega was like having lived with the great masters who guided him. The ability to transfer the knowledge that Dr. Mélega always has made me admire him more and more. A man always ahead of his time. An accomplished teacher. A skilled surgeon. An enthusiastic connoisseur. I was honored to write two chapters in his treatise of Plastic Surgery – Aesthetic and Arts and keep learning more and more when I am pleased to hear it in courses and congresses. And I’m sure, all they have learned and continue to learn from this great teacher proud and thank you very much.
